The UK Champions smaller breeds

People in the UK increasingly keep smaller breeds of dog, where 51% of dogs now weigh less than 10 kilogram

As Pet owners become more aware of the importance of nutrition and well being and with advances in medicine the lifespan of our cats and dogs has in the past 4 decades increased in the UK. Dogs now live on average 12 years while cats live on average 15 years.

Changes in our preferred breed, means the great British public are favouring smaller dogs weighing less than 10kg, these types of dogs tend to live longer, in turn increasing the popularity of breed and age specific foods.

People living alone in th UK has increased in the last 20 years and younger generations are more likely to delay marriage and having children leaving a gap that dogs and cats fill, becoming a great source of companionship. Smaller breed dogs with their compact nature fit in to our busy lives and are easier to exercise increasing their appeal. Cats are independent and happy to amuse themselves.

As we are all more aware of “we are what we eat” we insist that our pets food meets the standard we demand in our own food and we want our pet foods and treats to be healthy and enjoyable.

Cats have big characters. They also have big energy requirements, fast metabolisms and burn energy at a fast rate. Just like the big cats of the wild, they are carnivores so they need high levels of meat to ensure maximum health. We choose natural ingredients for our Little BigPaw complete cat food that are gentle on your cat’s stomach and easily digested. We even add Taurine – an amino acid essential for feline health. What’s more, we use a very high percentage of 100% traceable British meat so every cat will love the taste – big taste for little big cats.
